Getting an internship at a law firm has always been a dream of mine, and now that I have one I couldn't be more grateful. This internship has given me the opportunity to train and familiarize myself in a career field I have always been interested in. I definitely feel that my mentors are partners in my education. With everyday I spend there, I find myself learning more and more- and not just things about a law career- but also about everyday life. When I first started my internship, I had my heart set out on just criminal law, but I have now started to really enjoy learning and hearing about civil law. I have even started to think about starting off with civil law and then working my way into criminal law. At the firm, I help out as much as I can. I usually help with organizing case files and then also with updating billing files. Other things I do at the firm is help out with answering phone calls from clients and potential new clients. On the days we have clients coming into the office, I welcome in the clients and get them situated. And then at the end of a day, I get to close up the office. I can definitely say that my internship so far has been an amazing learning experience.
