Assignment 11: All About Me & My Internship

All About Me:

Well as you guys have seen from my home page, my name is Diellza! The first thing I can say about myself is that I'm currently a senior in high school. There's not much to me really. I'm just an ordinary girl in high school trying to survive and make it to college. So far its been good. I would say that I am a highly involved student. From being the VP of Special Events for DECA, captain of the Mock Trial team, a member of numerous clubs such as Latin Club, a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and a member of two honor societies, I can also say that I do not have much free time. But its alright because each of these organizations have helped shape me into the person I am today. It was only fifth grade year when I discovered my love for law and I was given the chance to join my school's Mock Trial team. And since then I have led myself to becoming the captain of Mock Trial in high school. Mock Trial gives students an opportunity to act like a lawyer in a courthouse. That is what helped me make the decision that I want be a lawyer one day.Through Mock Trial, I have been given the opportunity to realize that this is what I want to do.

My Internship:

Lately my favorite thing to talk about has been my internship. I am currently interning at The Hamilton Law Firm, as I've mentioned in previous posts. The lawyers I intern for have all been so great to me, and I can't even classify one as a mentor because they have all helped me and taught me so much. One of the things I always get to do when I go in is: answer phone calls from clients and potential new clients. I have found that there is so much to learn from answering something as simple as a phone call. Other activities, I get to partake in is meeting clients and helping update the financial files and case files for new clients. My internship so far has been amazing and I cannot wait for the many things I still have to learn!

My Future Plans:

As of now I am applying to college and plan to start in Fall of 2018. I hope to major and get a bachelor's degree in marketing. Once I get my bachelor's, I plan to go to law school. The firm is very supportive of me and have offered me to come back for the summer to continue interning and have even generously offered me to maybe come back after law school. I am so thankful and grateful for the opportunities they have given me. I can't wait to start this journey!
