Tim Elmore's post about Growing Leaders is a great article that provides readers with an insight on how to go about internships. He tells his readers that, "An internship is a twelve-week interview." When I read that line, I was able to immediately relate. Ever since I have started my internship, I have been thinking about it as an interview everyday I go in. Elmore, in his post, goes on to talk about the top qualities they look for in interns including: Techability, Initiative, Responsibility, and Energy. After reading this, I am making sure to try and show these qualities anytime I can at my internship. Since I already treat each day there as an interview, I am planning on showing a new quality every day I go in. That way I will have the ability to show in depth all that I can do and all that I have to offer. I treated every day at my internship as an interview in hopes of being impressive but reading Elmore's post made me realize that its much more than that. Elmore states that an internship is a "stimulation of the job you'll have one day" . This is what made me realize that sure you have to be impressive and show off all these qualities but you have to have a passion for what you're doing because this will hopefully soon become the job you have dreamed of having.
